Pete Davis, Principal

Mr. Davis has over twenty years experience in education as a high school teacher and administrator in middle school and high school. His career has spanned through the ranks of English teacher to Vice-Principal, and since 2004, principal of Hill Classical Middle School in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD).

 



Hill Classical Middle School has been a Title 1 Achievement School from 2002-2006. In 2005, Hill was cited as a California Distinguished School and has been re-nominated in 2009 and a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006. Hill Classical Middle School won the California Performance Excellence Award-Baldrige in Education-Prospector Award in 2005. Mr. Davis is a Baldrige in Education Trainer for Administrators for the LBUSD. Mr. Davis has also taught teaching method classes at California State University, Dominguez Hills.

 

Mr. Davis has a eight year-old daugter. His hobbies include golf, riding his bike, reading, playing piano, travel (when possible), kayaking (when possible), helicopters (not a pilot, maybe one day), motorcycles (doesn't have one any more) and riding in vehicles that go fast.

 

Kim Holland, Assistant Principal

Ms. Holland was named Assistant Principal of Hill Classical Middle School in July of 2004. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1988, where she majored in Music Education. She then studied one more year at UCLA to receive her teaching credential in Instrumental Music. Ms. Holland earned her Master of Arts in Music Education in 1993 from Cal State University, Long Beach. She began her teaching career at Bancroft Middle School in September of 1989 where she taught Instrumental Music for 15 years. In July of 2003 Ms. Holland returned to UCLA to obtain a second Master's degree in Education and her administration credential so she could become an Assistant Principal. She has been assistant Principal and Academic Coach for five years at Hill.

 

Roshann Williams, Assistant Principal, 6th Grade Academic Coach

Roshann Reed Williams, as a student in Long Beach Unified, attended John Muir Elementray, Hughes Junior High and Long Beach Poly High. She chose to pursue a BS in psychology at an historical Black university, Prairie View A M University, in Prairie View, TX. After graduating she came back to Long Beach to pursue a teaching credential at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She began her teaching career at Bret Harte Elementary and later transferred to middle school teaching at Stephens. After learning from and being inspired by mentor principals she pursued a Masters in Collaborative Educational Leadership and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential at Fielding University in Santa Barbara, CA. After graduating she became an Assistant Principal at Hill Classical MIddle School and considers it a privilege to work with talented teachers, warm and friendly faculty and the most awesome administrative team (A-Team) in the district. Mrs. Williams labels herself a life-long learner and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership Change through Fielding University. She is married to Donald Williams, who also works in the district. They spend their weekends watching their children compete in soccer, football cheer, basketball, baseball and softball.

 

Maggie Kerns, Administrator for Instruction and Special Programs

Maggie Kerns, Administrator for Instruction and Special Programs, began her career in Long Beach as a college aide and has held the positions of teacher, reading specialist, program facilitator, administrative assistant, and administrator for Insutrction and Special Programs. At Hill, Mrs. Kerns coordinates our categorical programs, writes and manages grants, supervises the paraprofessionals, conducts teacher evaluations, organizes school-wide staff development and numberous other jobs. As a student, Mrs. Kerns attended Hill, Wilson, Long Beach City College, California State University, Long Beach, earning her BA and MA and finally the University of California Irvine for her post graduate leadership credential. She is married to the co-principal of Wilson and has two sons who attend college. Her favorite hobbies are walking on the beach, reading, shopping, traveling and listening to live music preferably played by her sons or husband.

 

Aaron Borja, 7th Grade Academic Coach

Mr. Borja began his tenure as a counselor at Hill Classical Middle School in August of 2001. Mr. Borja earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. Mr. Borja taught English as a Foreign Language at El Instituto Cultural in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1996. He returned to California in 1997 and taught English at Whittier College anad Glendale Community College. In the summer of 1997 he began his school teaching career at Fletcher Drive School in Los Angeles and transferred in 1998 to Harbor City School. He has worked with two cohorts of Hill Classical Middle School students looping with them from sixth through eighth grade.

 

Rick Perruccio, 8th Grade Academic Coach

Rick Perruccio became counselor at Hill Classical MIddle School in August of 2003. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics from CAl State University of Long Beach in 1980 where he majored in Family Child Development. He then attended the University of Irvine where he received his teaching credential. Mr. Perruccio obtained a Master's Degree in School Counseling from the Univeristy of Laverne in 1992. He began his career as a counselor andf a coordinating teacher for the Child Development Center at Adams Elementary School in Long Beach from 1980-1988. He then became a first grade teacher at Burnett Elementary for 4 years. In 1992, Mr. Perruccio became a school counselor at various Long Beach Schools including Lee, Lincoln and Bancroft until he came to Hill in 2003.
